Accelerate Reading Comprehension and Thinking Skills Grades K-6
Reading for meaning is the ultimate goal of teaching foundational literacy skills to elementary school students. Using explicit methods to foster inferential thinking and reading comprehension results in improved reading comprehension (Kispal, 2008). This 3-hour course will focus on multiple methods to accelerate student proficiency in reading comprehension and thinking skills. This course will explore various practical instructional methods that can be employed in a classroom, online, or in a tutoring session at the elementary level.
